I just received my silver finish Shorty today that I bought based on your favorable review. I also have a Retro 1951 Tornado Duo Pen Stylus which I first heard of through your review of it. I don't carry the Tornado anymore for three main reasons. 1)The slippery finish and heavy weight combined with the short length makes it difficult to hold well 2)The action is too stiff to use easily one handed 3)the stylus tip picks up ink from the ball point tip which could get onto the PDA screen. I don't have any of these problems with the Shorty and it is even shorter than the Tornado. It's a perfect size to clip to the button placket on my Polo shirts or to slip into a pant's pocket. The rubber grip makes it easy to hold. The tip does not appear to pick up any ink although it's hard to tell on the black stylus tip. At first I thought that the tips were reversed because when I twisted the top half of the pen towards either icon, the wrong tip came out. I then held the pen in the reverse position with the tip pointing towards the thumb of my hand. With my index finger and thumb holding the rubber grip and my other fingers curled around the upper barrel, I can now twist the lower part (rubberized end) of the pen in the direction of the icon which now extends the appropriate tip. Holding the pen this way allows me to easily extend or retract either tip one handed. All in all a great little pen. My only gripe also has to do with the clip. After clipping the pen to some thick cloth material the fixed end of the clip has loosened and now rattles when not clipped to clothing. It still holds alright however. I emailed Stylus Central about the loose clip and they immediately sent out a replacement. I didn't even have to send back the old one. I received the replacement yesterday and the clip is rattle free. So the pen is even better now. It will be my primary carry dual stylus now. I own many others including: Fisher Bullet Space Pen Stylus, Pilot Pentopia Chameleon, Pilot Pentopia Twin Point, Pilot Dr. Grip Duo Pen and Stylus, Retro 1951 Tornado Duo Pen, ttools PDApoint, and the Autopoint Stylus+ 4-way multi-pen. The Shorty is my favorite of all of them. Axel |

Hey. I really did like this article. I'm trying to find an inexpensive stylus that will fit in my case. And there is the kicker. I wanted the istylus duo, but it's too long. This is the perfect length, but how thick is it? I have the body glove datasuit, and, if the pen is super thick, it hits my PDA or won't even fit the elastic. How thick is this in comparison to, say, a bic pen? Thank you. |

The Shorty is thicker than a BIC pen. My measurements have the BIC barrel at 0.32" diameter. The Shorty's barrel at its widest, without the clip, is 0.42" wide. So if your case can handle an additional 0.1" of diameter over the BIC, then it should fit. |
