To bad they only make this for the Vx.I would think they would focus on the M50x line.

Great review, as always, Julie. When I first heard about this device, I thought finally someone had discovered a workaround for the modem/keyboard issue. Still, this does look like a cool device.

Anyone want to try one of those free CueCat barcode scaners they give away at RadioShack? I'm wanting to inventory my DVD/Video collection without hauling it all down to the computer and this would be ideal.

Since the scaner does the barcode processing internally and sends out the data as if it were typed on a keyboard I'm not sure what the settings would have to be in the control panel mentioned in the review.

Since the CueCat sends encoded data (unless you hack the hardware!) you might have to write a hack to decode it. (actually someone may have already done this)

Tritan:
I just tried to put the HATcker on my m505 and of course it didn't fit due to the smaller left stylus silo. That really wouldn't be all that hard to fix. And, the little wire bracket would have to be adapted too.

forrester:
I know! I was sooooooo disappointed. I was able to plug in my Palm V modem while the HATcker was attached and then when I tried to use it, I had to smack my forehead and say DOH!

cmiller173:
I'll have to try to get one of those freebies and give it a shot! )

cmiller173, it does with this hack http://www.hhh.pao.cc/pccatDA/pccatDA.prc

I did modify my HATcker to fit into a palm 500, and it should work now that they have the new driver. (I returned my 500 when it didn't work with it a while ago) I am a college student and I use the happy hacking keyboard with the HATcker and this semester I have only used 1 AAA battery!

I also have the folding keyboard by Think Outside, but the right quarter wore out after 1 year. I would strongly reccomment the HATcker over a folding one, unless you want to put everything in your pockets.

Keep up the great reviews and info Julie/Judie!

Nick
