hmm, no pictures showing a person wearing it? |

eichin, I sent it to Julie - maybe she will model it for us? Judie :0) |

Of course, a con might be that most men won't want to carry one for fear that it looks like a purse! |

Eric, I don't think that it looks like a purse at all; it is simply a gear bag. The Moya looks very similar to the messenger bags that are popular for both men and women in larger cities. I guess it is all in the confidence of the wearer, and what his or her personal style happens to be. Judie :0) |

I have to agree with Erik. My first thought at seeing the picture was "it looks like a purse." I think half the items you show carried in it are even purse items: receipts, glasses, a wallet, letters, pens, ids, a set of keys, lip-balm, cash & loose change and a checkbook versus two PDAs and a camera. The cell phone I can’t count. Several retailers offer a cell phone case which attaches to the strap of any bag giving you an instant extra pocket on any bag. I was expecting it be to be a little bigger. Most messenger bags are much larger, even larger than most briefcases. All in all it looks like a nice bag, for women who want a purse/small gadget bag. "Think we're finished? Not quite! The left side of the Moya features a halfway hidden zipper which opens and closes a compartment that measures as tall and wide as the bag itself. This is a very handy area to secrete things you would rather not loose, such as receipts and other paperwork. So that is where I put mine." -- I think you mean "secret" & not "secrete." I read this & almost spilled my breakfast on the keyboard. |

HA!!! Thanks for pointing that out! ;0) I'll fix it right now! <snicker!> |

I'm a man-bag user, and proud of it. I use a variety of man bags (mostly from MountainSmith - http://www.mountainsmith.com and I've checked this case out, and thought about getting one. [This message has been edited by Julie (edited 12-21-2001).] |

I run a site called bagreview.com (http://www.bagreview.com) and am currently reviewing this bag. I agree with everything that Julie (Judie) said about it. It does not look like a purse but I do have one con other than the price. I don't like how the outer flap lifts up. When the flap is fully opened it is very difficult to see in the bag. It's very awkward to get at the contents. If the flap opened to the left or right it would be much simpler to reach in and look for things inside the bag. |

Chris, Glad to see you here! May I ask how tall you are? The reason that I ask is that since I have freakishly l-o-n-g arms, a loo-long flap never seemed like an issue for me. I wore the bag low, and with the flap lifted all the way up, its edge would come to just under my neck - plenty of room for me to look into the bag. I can totally see where a shorter person would have a problem, though. Thanks for adding your voice! [This message has been edited by Judie Clark (edited 12-27-2001).] |

I am about 6'1". I wore the bag low so mit would hang around my hip since the bag actually is made to kinda conform to the wearer's hip. Anyway...jut my 2 cents worth. |

Does that pocket you have the 3835 in hold one with a PC card sleeve? Also I notice the top of the stylus is silver, Is there going to be a silver stylus? Don't Panic! |

Don't Panic, No, a PC sleeve would not fit in that pocket, unfortunately... ...and yes, the that is the top of the 3800 series DJ stylus prototype. Only one in existance...for now. Judie :0) |

Thanks Judy, I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for more 3835 compatible bags and cases. This is a very stylish bag though. I quess living in the city makes me immune to that purse idea running through this thread. I just don't get it. DOn't Panic! |

Finally, the perfect excuse to get that new iBook I've been wanting. And I also don't think it looks like a purse. Of course, I'm carrying around so much stuff these days that I think a (sufficiently masculine) purse isn't such a bad idea. I'm getting this bag. |

Elo: I love it! You sound like me! Using the purchase of a $100 bag to justify the purchase of a $1500(?) notebook! Julie |

Photographed on its own, the bag looks great. But I'd be very interested to see what it looks like when strapped across the body. There are photos of this at the incase website, but they may be deceptive, since in one shot (worn by girl) it looks large and cool, and in another shot (worn by boy) it looks rather small and, dare I say it, purse-like. I'm wondering if, as part or your review, you might show a bag-and-body shot? |

h-lo: Unfortunately, I don't have access to the case to take additional pictures. Julie |

Hello h-lo, ![]()
quote: That's coz those are TWO different types of Moya cases. The bigger one (that's supposed to fit the Apple iBook) is the Incase Moya Pak Deluxe (12.0 x 9.0 x 2.5) & the smaller one is the Incase Moya Pak/X-Traveller (8.0 x 5.0 x 2.0) that's $20 cheaper. I got these info on StylusCentral.com. They're listed side by side. It's common for men outside the US & in major cities in the US to carry bags big or small when going about. I noticed though, that American men outside the biggest cities are not used to carrying a bag around when they're shopping, going for a walk, to the movies, etc. I also noticed that many of the casual, sporty bags found in ladies' depts in the US are the usual types of bags carried by men in most parts of the world. So, as Judie best puts it, "I guess it is all in the confidence of the wearer, and what his or her personal style happens to be." |

I ordered this bag the first day the review was posted and based on Judie's recommendation. I've been using it everyday since. My only gripe is that it isn't completely black. The issue of the long flap does hinder me as I am 5'1" but the other "pros" far outweigh this minor annoyance. Can you tell ... I love it??? E in SF |

If the price is a con, why not get it from the incase people directly? It's only $40 from them directly while StylusCentral thinks charging $20 more is actually an acceptable thing??? What's up with that? |
|
sanjsrik Member Posts: 18 |
I stand corrected, before I flamed out of existence here, the $40 bag is the regular bag, the deluxe is $60, but from their site, what's the difference? |
|
Judie Administrator Posts: 891 |
sanjsrik, I believe the main difference is size and possibly accessory pockets. Judie :0) |

How much does the bag weigh? |

T-Mobile stores are having a clearance sale, and they have BOTH sizes of the Moya bags for… $4.99 each. A far cry from the $60 price! |

Argh! I just found this thread - the T-Mobile store is where I first saw one of these bags and wanted one, but couldn't justify it at the time. Does anyone know of a T-Mobile store that still has one for clearance? Please post here if so - I'll check back! |

Say, whoever was complaining about secrete. It is acceptable usage. See the second definition: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=secrete It is, indeed, quite fanny. |
