I don't think you should list not being able to charge through the serial as a con. Since it's physicaly imposible to do that anyways. Serial does not supply high enought voltage to charge anything, you would have to have an ac adaptor plug into the serial adaptor (like the palm IIIc's and v's) completly destroying the "compact" design of the cable.

Just my two bits.

on a side note

"Serial cable doesn't the ability to charge the Clue's batteries"

what are Clue's batteries? hehehehe

You're right. I reworded the CON and fixed the typo.

Thanks for testing the Brando serial hotsync cable with NT, Julie. I've heard that this could be done for months, but haven't had an article I could point folks to that verified that this could be done.

Now I have! Thank you!

PS One question: while you can Hotsync to your Clie, I'm assuming you can't access the contents of the Memory Stick from NT using MS Import/Export, correct? I'm assuming that's a USB-specific thing.

bookrats:

I didn't try the MS import / export software with NT and the serial cable... I'm assuming that it will not work though.

Are the specs on the USB sync Cable the same as those in the Sony Craddle? I am woried because I herd on Cliesource that some USB sync cable are using different voltage/current on their cable.

Also does this cable works if the Clie is in the Vaja case?

Thanks

Since the Brando cable is only a serial cable -- it doesn't carry power to the Clie for recharging, as the cradle does -- why would this be an issue?

How long does it take to charge? Is it as fast as the cradle?

I have tried connecting my Clie NR70V on my pc that has windows NT via a serial cable, but at first the palm desktop delivered with the clie does not install itself. I then tried installing the palm desktop 4.01, but nothing happens. Any idea why??

I am interested in the serial cable to use my PEG-T615 with a windows NT4 computer.

Which version of Palm Desktop should I use : 3.0 (the one i used with my previous Palm III) ?
the 4.X that come with the Clie, with the USB drivers (is it compatible with NT4?) ?
Or another one ?

And does someone know if i can find serial cradle for my the PEG-T615 ?

Thanks for your help

i tried to use ms export/import with my serial cable and my nr70v for hours but it was useless, the clie does not conect to the host. and the msexport doesn't let you choose the memory stick.

i think it's only USB function

Download the Palm Desktop for http://www.palm.com and use it instead. It worked fine on NT 4.0 for me.
