Great report both of you.
I wonder if both of you tried using bluechat and blueboard on the Tungsten T. That aluminium hard case also looks very stylish. I'd be very happy if you could describe more about it as you have seen the real one.

The best report on Comdex I have ever read... more fun than being there! Usually the reports dwell on how crowded and annoying it is...or, now, how small and uninteresting it is! Personally, I want to go with you two next year!!!

b.k.k. - Julie and i were playing with Bluechat while we were waiting for our Palm appointment. This was the first time we had been able to try it - and it was cool!!!! I would love this feature if I were stuck in a boring meeting and had a friend I could chat with discretely...much better than passing notes back and forth!

The hardcase is very nice. It has a holster built into the bottom that snugly holds the TT, and then you slide the PDA up when you need the graffiti area. This is the case I am waiting for, but they didn't have any for sale at COMDEX, either.

Can you sync while using the TT hard case? With my Vx I could open both sides of the case while on top of a box. Is this possible with the TT? Thanks.

How could anyone eat at PF Chang's and *not* get the wonderful lettuce wraps?

Great report... Not quite as good as being there but certainly an adequate substitute.

I wen to an Office Depot in Atlanta and they were showing an anticipated due date from Palm of JANUARY 13 for the Aluminum case....unbelievable.

The rhinoskin case looks interesting however.

Hey guys, great review!

Did I read this correctly?

"...such as the awesome new Think Outside XT that Julie and I both have for our Tungsten Ts."

Do you guys already have the new Think Outside Stowaway XT keyboard? If so, any chance of posting a mini-review/comparison to the original TO Stowaway? (The new slim-size sounds very impressive.)

Thanks!

Yes, we've got the XT. It's a very nice thin keyboard. Should have a review soon.

Hey guys, I'm surprised there was no news from Sony? Apparently not a peep. What do you think is up with that?

penclick mouse: hmm, that looks like a device compusa (and everyone else) carried back when I first got a 486-based laptop. The old one was smaller, though.

The idea makes sense -- you've used a pen for a lot longer than you've used a mouse, especially as a child; I can't draw with a mouse at all, but do ok with paper or with a tablet. However, having the big flat base just doesn't work, since you lose on the "turning" aspects of using a stylus...

as for the "spy pack" flashlight -- is it actually any brighter than the backlight? I've been able (for years) to find my way around unlit rooms with my palm backlight, though the clie' certainly dominates in that regard...

Any more insight on the Dell Axim. People comment on its size, but it's the same size (actually slightly shorter) than the iPaq. I can see it appearing huge next to the "new" smaller Pocket PC's, but does it still seem big compared to an iPaq? Also, any more thoughts about it appearing "cheap"? If you were choosing between the Dell at $300 or an iPaq 3950 at, say $500 (which it might fall to), is the iPaq worth the increased cost?

We asked about a hardcase for the TT, but didn't get any real details. I'm sure they are working on one though.

About the Zaurus: You said the answer was not 'no', but it wasn't 'yes'. Could you expand on that a little for those of us who like that device more than a lot?
If they don't release it in the US, I've been told that dynamism.com takes special orders for products from japan.

When we asked about the availablity of the clamshell Zaurus here in the US, they said that there were no real plans to bring it here. But, then they turned around and asked us what we thought would be a good price for it. That's really about all the info we have right now.

Couple more questions re: SL-C700 Zaurus. (FWIW, I'd probably buy one in a second, too!)

Was the demo model/prototype you saw the Japanese version, or have Sharp produced an English translation?

What sort of price did you suggest, and how was that received?

Hello and thanks for great report, from Comdex.
I have ordered Aluminium case for Tungsten and waiting for 3/12 when it is supposed to be delivered, but I haven't been able to find out weather case folds back completely or opens about 180 degrees only. Please send me some feedback about this if, of course in case you can.

The software was English as far as I remember. I think the keys has Japanese characters on them.

We told them a price of $599.

It only opens 180 degrees (flat like an open book).

www.dynamism.com is now taking pre-orders for the Sharp SL-C700.

They've promised an english OS and are know for doing these types of translations.

Price is $699 (which include translation, export, and one year for support).

Unless you have to have one right now...I would hold out just a little bit longer. I really think that they will come out here, and that they will be a little bit less expensive. I don't have any inside information to base this on - just a feeling.

Judie - agreed. Certainly for the have to have amongst us.

Price point is hard for me to take. Will remain happy with my 5500 for a now.

Hopefully Sharp keeps it's current retailers in the loop. There was a press release about moving to a VAR channel.

Well that makes my choice very easy. To get Rhinoskin case you saw at Comdex or try tofind a shop that sells Krusell case here in Stockholm area (shouldn't be hard since Krusell is swedish company). No other cases seem to match it at this moment. I know, I know eb cases has one too, but I find it crazy not to be able to have my credit card inside it cause they are using magnetic mechanism for closing it. And Vaja hasn't announced anything yet. I hope it gives good protection and that they make Titanium Hard Cáse soon too :-).
Thanks for your fast answer. Saved me hassle of returning Hard Case as soon as I would have received it. One last question concerning cases from me, for today, or hmm, maybe I shouldn't promise anything:
can Tungsten be charged while in Rhinoskin case or not?

I think the $699 is fairly reasonable for the Sharp Zaurus. I think I'll TRY to wait a bit to see if they come to the us. Aren't they being sold for $502US in Japan? Really the price does have to be that low to compete with PPC's and Palm's. But then again, 640x480 isn't in the same league. And there's that keyboard(which some people will specifically want). I would buy it even if it didn't have the keyboard and was just a tablet. 640x480 leaves plenty of room for a nice virtual keyboard.

You can buy a SL-C700 that has an english OS on it here-> http://www.dynamism.com/zaurus/index.shtml. It is a little spendy at $699. I would love to see Sharp release this in the states.

Another interesting SL-C700 link found over at the ZaurusZone forums (Jason Perlow).

PCWorld is saying that the SL-C700 will make it's US debut at CES in January. Priced at $500.

I think your review sucked big time. You totally blew the Dell Axim off. I love it and so does everyone else that I know who uses it and see's it. So there!
