Regarding the 'TW' handle, I don't think it's from Wilderness Trails. I had the privilige of buying one of the first Waterfield Design bags ever when I worked for one of the founders (back when the bags were a side gig). Back then the name of the company was "Tonic Ware" and it has the same "TW" grip. My guess is that they still have stock of the TW grips and either use them until they run out, or just put them on the comped bags they send out. Though TonicWare could have gotten the handles from Wilderness Trails as well, I doubt they did, since the T is in front (and Wilderness Trails would probably have the W in front) and the radius is, I think, too small for a bicycle handle. I love the bag though. It's still my favorite to this day. The yellow interior is one of the best design flashes of brilliance I've ever seen, and ialone makes the bag worth it, even if you ignore the great quality and durability. Kevin Fox |

Thanks for the great pictures, Michael. They really illustrate your points. And since these bags are only sold online, the pics are of even greater importance than in an ordinary review. (and online pics of the WF bags are rare, too!) I'm sorely tempted by the Cargo bag... any chance there will be a Gadgeteer review of that model too? |

I have a small cargo bag, and think that this bag is like a gadgeteer's holy grail, I'm no writer. There's a good review of the large cargo bag over at bagreview.com, but alas that site never has too many pictures of what's inside a bag. |

Actually, you are in luck, Michael has written a review of the Cargo bag too! We'll be posting it probably sometime next week. Julie |

I already have one, but I still think it's cool that you're doing a review. Of course we read every word that the Gadgeteers say, but you're very good about posting descriptive pictures.. and that's what is lacking in many an online review. From the moment I got my Palm IIIc and read the review of it here, I knew that I finally found a review site that thought the same way I do. |

Holy Crap! How niche can you get?!?!? Reviewing hand bags now? Damn why don't you review "gadgets" ONCE in a while, not gadget derivatives like hand bags, pda cases, Palm Logoed T-Shirts and shoes. Review something intersting for once. Do you even do statistics to see what your readers like to read? OR what they like to see reviewed? I'd be damn suprised if they voted for PDA cases and hand bags. |

I disagree with "The Reader." As a gadget freak, I also have an interest in the best ways to protect/accessorize/transport my gadgets. I could be alone in that, but I don't think so. Consider this voice as cancelling that of 'The Reader.' Now an RSS feed of the-gadgeteer, so I could see faster when new reviews are posted, without cluttering my inbox... Well, that would be much desired. Kevin Fox |

How bout as a gadget freak, I'd like to know about THE gadget itself. Bet she thinks I'am trying to put her down, but I'm telling you what they may be doing wrong. They should have mini reviews on those cool gadgets like those new flash lights where you shake it to recharge...and stuff like that more often, instead of hand bags only the minority likes. Anyways, only the majority of the people that likes this particular article would click in here and post something. Most people would not even click in to the article, let alone commenting. |

I would just like to add in my opinion that I do absolutely enjoy all the case/bag reviews here. To me, cool cases/bags are a type of gadgets too, & I've bought many a cool cases/bags coz of their "cool-factor." As long as the reviews are informative with lots of big detailed pics, keep them rolling in! Of course, reviews of all kinds of gadgets frequently would be ideal! Just another gadgeteer's (note not capitalized |

quote: I didn't, I'am just asking if they did statistics. I mean if you do this website mostly fir hobby, then do what you like, but if you are building for success...do some statistics. Of course, success is way more than stats of knowing which direction to go. |

If you want stats, just look at them: http://the-gadgeteer.com/webalizer/ I think 2 million + page views a month would tell you that people come here to read EVERYTHING. Now please take this discussion eleswhere. This is a comment area for the WaterField bag. Julie |

I usually carry around my TiBook, spare battery, power adapter, small mouse, Palm TungstenT, travel sync cable, small cell phone, One or two CD Jewel cases and a magazine or two. And sometimes a paperback book. Do you think that this will all fit in this case? THanks, Michael |

Julie, Thanks for responding. I was afraid that no one would notice my post, because it was such an old thread. Not to beat a dead horse, but do you think it would bulge out like the one in the review, or would the items I mentioned allow it to retains its slim look? THanks, Michael |
|
Julie Administrator Posts: 2752 |
From the items that you've listed, I don't think it would bulge at all. The writer of this review really crammed a lot of things in the bag. |

Michael, Sorry for not responding earlier. I assumed I would get a message when this thread was modified but did not. Anyway, aboslutely yes, Julie is right on both counts. The racer-X is a minimalsit bag into which (for demonstration purposes) I crammed a lot of stuff. With the list of gear you describe you should be fine. Further, the "bulging" of the sides was not very pronounced anyway. Finally, there is obviously an opportunity for reviewers to sell review samples after they have done the reviews. Well in this case I've not done so. The Racer-X has stood the test of time. It, and its big brother the Cargo are still going strong. They are excellent products. Michael
